The Starsky Cardigan — Television's Most Famous Knit, Hand-Knit
TELEVISION'S MOST FAMOUS KNIT
The Starsky Cardigan
The chunky wrap cardigan from Starsky & Hutch — hand-knit in the Cowichan tradition it came from.
When Starsky & Hutch hit screens in 1975, Detective Dave Starsky's chunky belted cardigan stole scenes from the car chases. “The Starsky sweater” became one of the most requested knitting patterns of the decade — a bold, geometric wrap in the style of the Cowichan sweaters first knit by Coast Salish knitters in Canada.
We knit ours by hand in Dalyasan, a mountain village in Türkiye — the same slow way the originals were made. Choose the classic cream & brown, or one of our grey, green and blue colorways.
